The Same World

A short story I wrote as part of an assignment for an online weekly creative writing class. This week.

The assignment was:
“You are writing this entry in May 2024. The world has been in lockdown for more than three years. Besides sporadic trips to the grocery, you have not seen the outside world.

Your exercise is to write a piece about your three years in lockdown. It can be any form or genre you like. Have fun.

You need to abide by the following rules for this exercise:
1. Every sentence should either go forward or go deeper.
2. Don’t use any word with more than two syllables. (No ‘quarantine.’)
3. Don’t use adverbs or adjectives.
4. Minimum 500 words. Maximum 89,200 words.”
